Group research on institutional logos
Mainstream and independent institutional logos differ largely because Mainstream logos try to look different and stand out from other mainstream companies so that audiences know who the company is and the public want to watch their films. Independent films are not as well known because their logos are not very original and are very simplistic.
Mainstream
A mainstream logo is very bold and the logo is made obvious to its audience. Also the logos are normally revolved around from different angles so the logo can be seen. But a large difference is that a mainstream film makes their logos very complex and usually add animation to highlight the name of the company. The company is able to make it look this way because they have the funds to create a complicated logo.
In the Paramount opening the logo is based on top of a mountain making it stand out and the bright colours make it more attractive to an audience.
Independent
An independent logo is very simplistic and don't stand out as much compared to a mainstream logo. Not a lot of money is spent on a logo for a independent company because they don't have the funds to make it look high tech and have loads of animation. The logos don't really have complex effects and are very basic. Logos are normally cheap to make.
With the Film4 logo the animation is very basic and not as complex as the paramount logo. It does revolve around the logo but still is very dull and doesn't highlight the logo in a bold way.
This will help me when creating my own film opening because when me and my group have figured out our institutional logo we will know how to import this into the start of our film opening to make it look like a mainstream or independent film.
